Trump, here comes... The Clash!

Trump, Brexit, Syriza or the emergence of Podemos in Spain, all of them unexpected and quite crazy results of recent elections, are a consequence of a clash. A clash between political correctness hypocrisy and gross emotional manipulation.

Political correctness talks about multiculturalism, but doesn’t focus sufficiently on the practical problems related to immigration: security, employment...

This offers a chance for emotional manipulation by the use of shocking facts related to immigration (true or fake, that doesn’t matter much for propaganda). (1)

Political correctness "anti-" campaigns arrogating to itself the defence of certain social groups and against capitalism, the rich, the military...  against our Western way of life.

On the other side, emotional manipulation allows people to feel great again. Make America great again! And feeling proud and confident becomes most important during a crisis. (2) (3)

Political correctness warns constantly and anxiously about the future dangers of global warming, but not so much about the current problems of global economy warming. Tsunamis of unemployment and underemployment moving between the East and the West, deserts and oasis of prosperity in the Middle East, changes in the polarity of global powers with the growth of Asia and autocracies in Russia or Turkey.

And all this in the midst of a global change of the paradigm not completely understood yet. The move from ideologies to bare populism. (4)

Note 6: (Feb 10 2017) A book that analyses emotions in politics (sorry, only in spanish yet)
Emociologías, un enfoque cognitivo de la vida política en democracia

Note 5: (Dec 17 2016) Analysis still has sense: Against Empathy explains political correctness hypocrisy and Trump recognizes gross manipulation

Paul Bloom's "Against Empathy: The Case for Rational Compassion" helps understanding the evil that resides in the good. The trap inside PC (Political Correctness)
Empathy brings people to act to feel good instead of acting to correct problems.Thats why we can talk abour political correctness hypocrisy.

And Trump says it clearly. He was acting like a coach with the athletes. Like a marine with his recruits.
Gross manipulation to win the competition. And now relax to govern.

Note 4: (Dec 10 2016) Trump, a clash of emotiologies
I have progressed in the classification of this emotional manipulations an invented a word describe them.
Emotiology: Complex structure of cognitive distortions oriented to the social and political mobilization through emotional influence. Most usually in a negative way, promoting the confrontation of the citizenship in groups based on some differentiating element (language...).

Note 3: (Nov 20 2016) Just to put some concreción on this, Obama, Clinton, Merkel or Rajoy could be examples of clean political speech. Sanders or Trump of manipulator type.

Examle: latest message from Obama, in Lima:
Don’t assume the worst.
I think it will be important for everybody around the world to not make immediate judgments, but give this new president-elect a chance to put their team together, to examine the issues, to determine what their policies will be,” Obama said. “How you campaign is not always how you govern.

Note 2: (Nov 19, 2016) Might Post-Truth come from this clash of manipulations? From this change of the paradigm from ideologies to bare populism?
When everybody lies... truth has no value, as when everybody uses doping cleanness is misprize.

Wikipedia: Post-truth politics (also called post-factual politics) is a political culture in which debate is framed largely by appeals to emotion disconnected from the details of policy, and by the repeated assertion of talking points to which factual rebuttals are ignored. Post-truth differs from traditional contesting and falsifying of truth by rendering it of "secondary" importance.

I guess Mass media hygiene (not control) is something to be included in the analisys.

Note 1: (Nov 18, 2016)  Just to clarify, multiculturalism/immigration focus, anti/proud strategies or global warming/economy warnings concerns are mere examples of this clash. Mostly European examples, as I am Spanish. The fundamental problem is the excessive manipulation that takes politics out of reality. A manipulation that I classify in two basic types that feed back on each other: correctness hypocrisy and gross emotional manipulation.

Clash of manipulations
- correctness hypocrisy: sophisticated and sensitive. Presses by encouraging feelings of guilt and with contempt and mockery.
- emotional: more primary and urgent, uses fear and phobias and presses with aggressiveness
